Over the last few years I've accumulated a collection of "classic" pop music from the last half century - rock, pop, reggae, soul, disco, dance & ballads. As you may observe from the listings, some of the tracks are a bit rare too. I have a lot of recent material, but the average track is from 1982, (I worked it out). I've comprehensively catalogued my collection of about 6100 mp3 tracks, as at May 2005, the majority at 160 kbps or better. Some early recordings are poor, but most of the tracks are CD quality, and sound superb when played through a proper hi-fi system. The files are kept on an independant hard disc & regularly copied to CD & tape for security. I play them from PC in Winamp/Musicmatch, DVD player or portable hard disc player, (not an Ipod - I hate 'em). None of my files are copy protected - very bad idea. Incidentally, for the uninitiated, it is possible to reconvert the files back to conventional CD audio format, but why bother? I find that MP3 is vastly more convenient.

In addition to mp3's, all recorded from legitimate sources, or downloaded in a feeding frenzy from the original Napster, I've got a shedload of conventional audio CD's, mainly "Greatest Hits" compilations. I have listed about 1100 of the better known tracks on my Audio CD webpage. I have already ripped the lot to MP3's for convenience. As for records... that's another story... I've "paid my dues", but they're too much hassle now. Oh, and since I've now got a DVD writer and broadband, I'm now branching into movies.... watch this space.
